This is the final week of formal rehearsals.
Music Trip
-Thank you to everyone that took part in the Boston/NY trip. It was a wonderful group to travel with and there were many memories made!
Music Awards- June 11th @ 6:30pm in the Portia White Auditorium
Our end of the year concert will feature all our ensembles plus some TMS bands.
All music students are asked to be in the music room at 6pm in formal uniform.
All Grads are asked to return their Music Uniform the Monday after this concert with your name on it.
Music Festival Results
Congratulations to the CEC Choir on your Provincial Music Festival performance! Your adjudication will be shared this week.
Music Scholarship and Bursary Opportunities
-TDSBA Summer Bursaries
Students returning to the CEC Music program next year are welcome to apply for a summer music camp bursary. All students need to do is write a letter to the TDSBA explaining the music camp they plan on attending and why they want to attend.
Summer Rentals
-Students who would like to keep their instrument over the summer only have to pay $20! Please see Mr.MacLeod for a rental form.

Graduation-June 29th
CEC Graduation takes place at the RECC. Choir and Symphonic Band play from 7-7:30pm before the ceremony and one song during the ceremony. This is our last time making music with our Grade 12 students. There will only be one rehearsal on Wednesday June 28th from 3:15-5pm. The band is joined by up and coming junior high students and former CEC alumni. We are usually done by 8pm. Dress is all black.
Band Buddy & Music President
-This Monday during Symphonic rehearsal we will vote for the Band Buddy Award. This goes to a Gr.12 student that was encouraging, friendly, and added positivity to each rehearsal.
-We need to elect a new Music President for the 2023/24 year. If you are. interested in running for music president please let Mr.MacLeod know by 3pm on Monday. Voting will happen Thursday evening and the winner will be announced Sunday during our awards.

Starting this Monday all rehearsals are back to normal. As time is very limited before our Festival performances, every rehearsal is very important.

Bass Clinic
Dr. Paul Ruska from St.Fx will be giving a bass clinic on Monday, March 20th from 1:45-3pm. He will be talking about upright and electric techniques.

-We have 71 students in the music program. Mr.MacLeod has been sporting a new haircut for the last couple of weeks.
-We have fitted students for music uniforms at CEC. If you still do not have a formal uniform let Mr.MacLeod know asap. They will be needed for our Holiday concert.
-Big Thank you to the music professors from St. Fx and Dalhousie that shared their expertise and music with us this past month.
-The CEC Jazz Ensemble submitted a video for the CBC Music Class Challenge. Top 10 will be announced next week, with the Top 3 being announced in 2 weeks. The full video can be viewed here.

-Congratulations to the Symphonic Band and Choir on a wonderful Remembrance Day Ceremony. Students performed very well and were very respectful throughout the presentation.

-The Truro Mall welcomes back the CEC Jazz Ensemble again for holiday tunes at 12-2 pm in the Mall centre.
Holiday Concert @ CEC- Dec.11th
-Our Annual Holiday concert taking place in the CEC AV Room featuring all ensembles. Students are asked to be in their formal uniforms by 6pm in the band/choir room. Concert begins at 6:30pm.

-Local group Brigid will be performing a holiday concert that will feature the CEC Choir.

-This Tuesday the Jazz Ensemble will be recording at the Marigold from 9-10am
-This Wednesday St.FX faculty will be performing during A Block in the band room. All are welcome. There will also be a run through of the Remembrance Day ceremony last period for all Symphonic and Choir members.
-This Thursday we will have our Remembrance Day ceremony first period. All Music students are asked wear their formal uniforms.
