The cec Music Program
Music plays a vital role in learning and culture. A balanced education in our public school system must include access to a high quality, core curriculum music program. According to the great philosopher Plato, "I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy: but most importantly music, for in the patterns of music and all the arts are the keys of learning."
The music program at the Cobequid Educational Centre in Truro NS, ranks as one of the best in the country. Under the leadership of the late Ron MacKay, Paul Barrett, Jeff Graham and current directors John MacLeod and Sheena Henderson, the CEC Music program has won a number of prestigious awards and medals in national and international competition.
The CEC Music Program offers something for anyone interested in music. We want all students to succeed, and we know that they can only do that when we push them to new limits, experiences and expectations. The Band Program achieves success because of the many people who contribute to the effort. Our students, parents, staff, and administrators work together to create the CEC Music Program.
